For Brianna

My niece Brianna Kalina is in a battle for her life against Lymphoma in Children's Hospital in Oakland, CA.
This Blog is dedicated to her. Hopefully this will be a boost to her strength and courage to keep up the fight or perhaps cheer her up.
I love you Breezy!

Brianna is an outstanding human being. It is an honor to have such a close bond with Bri whose strength, passion, beauty, intelligence, talent, compassion, and insightfulness enrich the lives of all she meets. My hat is off to this patient and kind young lady who stays steady at all cost. My love for her knows no bounds. Here is my 100% support.

Hey Bri! 'Member that Christmas you guys came down to Escondido, and I was listening to Shakira? You were the only one who thought she was cool too. Thanks for backing me up on that one :) I will forever have your back. You need anything just ask! Take special care - K

For Brianna

To my dear darling daring daughter, you have become my whole life. My joy has come from watching you emerge from a daisy, brownie, junior and cadette in the Girl Scouts, to your great athletic ability from the track to every position you played on the soccer field as well as keeping up your grades which are so important at this time in your life.

You have a lot of people that love and adore you and we all need you to continue fighting through this horrible situation and know that God is going to help you pull through this unbelievable time in your life.

I love you peanut, and don’t forget to be nice to your spectacular nurses.

Deep inside the person the world now sees, is the real and indivisible person you are. Let your inner self play an active and positive role in all you now do. All my love, Dina

Know why
Rather than thinking of reasons why you can't, think of the reasons why you must. Instead of focusing on your problems, focus on your purpose.
There will always be challenges in any endeavor. Yet for every challenge, there is a way to get through it.

The secret comes in knowing why. With a strong enough sense of why, anything can be done.

What specifically do you wish to do, and why do you wish to do it? Dig down deeply into the reasons why, for that is where you'll find the energy, the persistence, and the commitment to carry you forward.

Don't be afraid to desire it, and to explore your own personal, meaningful reasons. By understanding why, you'll have what you need to figure out how, and to make it happen.

Know why, and watch the challenges melt away. Know why, and it will be.

As Brianna's Girl Scout Leader, I have experienced her strength, humor and personal sense of style! She is in my prayers every day! Among my favorite memories of Brianna are the day she climbed to the top of the 4th sail up on a tall ship, and got on her cell phone "Hey Mom! Guess where I am!". The cell phone being one of her favorite toys!

Another favorite is her running to catch the truck to get her permission slip. Flying like the wind down the road and climbing into the back of the truck and pounding on the top of the cab. I'm sure that someone with that kind of determination will make it through this.

Love you Brie!!!

Annie, you and your Mom are like family, and when you're connected to someone like that, you share their pain, joy, the ups and downs of each others' lives. I feel your pain, and the gut wrenching fear you have of this disease you're fighting. I know it doesn't seem possible, but you will find your way through this ordeal. Let the doctors do their thing and make you well. You have to hang in there, and have faith. Picture yourself happy and healthy and hang onto that image. You're in my prayers, and I'm sending you a BIG HUG!!!(are you squished yet)
Love you bunches Bebe girl... Judy

Brianna, although it may not seem so at times, good things will come of the trials you endure now. The strength and faith that you and your family have found already and still have yet to find will be able to get you through anything that the future holds. You will forever be an inspiration to those who know you or know of you and this battle that you will win.
Cassandra

"God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to perform:
He plants His footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines
With neverfailing skill,
He treasures up His bright designs
And works his sovreign will.
Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust him for His Grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.

His purposes will ripen fast,
Unfolding every hour:
The bud may have a bitter taste,
But sweet will be the flower

Blind unbelief is sure to err,
And scan His work in vain;
God is His own interpreter,
And He will make it plain."
